The Basecamp AirFrame construction delivers bump-swallowing luxury, self inflating convenience and outstanding packability.
Thermarest says: Deluxe basecamp comfort, convenience and packability.
Still sleeping on your ultralight backpacking mattress while car camping? Providing lofty luxury without the weight, the BaseCamp AF uses advanced AirFrame Construction, alternating foam and air channels to drastically reduce weight while amplifying loft with minimal bulk for bump-swallowing comfort. This self-inflating mattress packs small and comes with a new and improved stuff sack with easy-carry handle.
Thermal Foam is our proprietary, solid-core foam. While it may look like just foam, we have spent decades working closely with our supplier, evolving this most basic element of our self-inflating pads. The resulting foam is made in the USA, and optimized for the best balance of light weight, lasting durability, and uniformity of support.
The Thermarest BaseCamp AF combines the lightweight, packability and comfort of the NeoAir series with the ease of use and price of the self inflating series. Using an advanced AirFrame construction, which features alternating foam and air channels, the BaseCamp AF packs down super small and remains incredibly comfortable, even on rough ground.
At 6.3cm thick it's thicker than the standard Basecamp, but retains the self inflating feature and will require only a few breaths to reach the desired firmness once the foam has done its job. The use of much less foam than the standard BaseCamp also means that it packs up far smaller, but does reduce its insulating value quite a bit making it more suitable for 2 season use.
