After 40 years Mountain Equipment's Annapurna Down Jacket remains a popular choice for extended use in sub-zero conditions and Polar travel.
Mountain Equipment says:
The Annapurna Jacket offers total functionality in the most serious environments. The exceptional levels of protection and insulation are now matched by an extensively reworked hood and easier to use moulded zips that function better in the toughest conditions.
Mountain Equipment's Annapurna Down Jacket is a fully-featured winter jacket that is ideal for belaying, high-mountain climbing, expedition use and more.
The Annapurna jacket has a down-filled neck baffle which sits under the collar and protects the wearer from draughts coming in through the neck opening of the jacket.
Mountain Equipment are specialists in utilising design to get the most out of their products, in the Annapurna they use elastic stitching on the baffles inside the jacket to hug the wearer to minimise any space inside. Excess space would decrease the efficiency of the downs warming properties. Extended cuffs on the jacket provide an air-tight barrier against the freezing external conditions and also allow for large gloves to be tucked into the jacket sleeves.
This is a beast of a jacket with all the features you'd expect and more on top of that. A perfect jacket for any prolonged use in sub-zero temperatures.
