For a traditional big, warm down jacket that is packed with features the Senja is a great value option. With 220g of down, and a windproof and water resistant outer this jacket is great for taking on winter.
Mountain Equipment says:
A warm and resilient down jacket giving high levels of warmth with low weight and pack size.
Combining a lightweight construction with the weather resistance and durability of our DRILITE® Loft 40D fabric the Senja is light and packable enough for remote journeys but with the features required for long term use, it’s the ideal insulation for trekking and mountaineering in cold conditions.
Mountain Equipment's Senja Down Jacket delivers functionality while still being fashionable enough to wear around town without looking out of place. It is filled with 220g of 700+ FP Down while the traditional baffles provide plenty of room for the down to loft and are simple stitch through baffles so the cost has stayed much lower than box wall options.
The 40D Drilite outer has a smooth feel that isn't as noisy as some of the super lightweight pieces. It is windproof and provides a really good amount of protection from moisture. The jacket has a good mountain hood that's adjustable, as are the cuffs and hem, which is ideal for getting the most comfortable fit possible. This is a good all-round jacket that balances weight, performance and price.
