Exped's Thunder Rucksacks offer a large front opening (in addition to the more traditional drawcord closure) with a full range of 'make a difference' features mounted to an excellent adjustable lightweight harness system.
Thunder is a trekking pack with a superb weight to volume/feature ratio. The suspension system is quickly length adjustable and provides excellent fit, torso mobility and weight transfer. Three access options to the main compartment (top, front and side loading) allow simple packing and unpacking. A large front and two side stretch pockets offer additional storage space. A floating lid with inner and outer pockets and adjustable side compression straps increase carrying capacity for extended trips and expeditions.
Exped's Thunder Rucksacks use the same excellent adjustable harness system as the Lightning series of packs, and we can testify that its a very comfortable carry. Whereas the Lightning packs are designed to be a minimal weight the Thunder series offer the trekker a much more sophisticated and feature rich pack.
Many will like the lid which provides protection for the top of the bag and has two pockets (one internal and one external) to help you keep organised. Backpackers will like the addition of a large mesh pocket at the front of the pack, ideal for wet gear and the daisychain loops which offer endless options for securing kit to the outside of the pack.
The key feature though is the huge panel access at the front of the pack which allows you to see, pack, unpack and keep your gear organised wherever you are and whatever you're doing. Mounted on the aforementioned harness with adjustable back length, well padded hipbelt with mesh pockets on the hipfins the Thunder rucksacks offers comfort, convenience and flexibiity at an overall weight that's still pounds lighter than many of its peers.
