The Outdoor Research Optimizer Jacket is a lightweight yet durable shell made from waterproof and highly breathable Gore-Tex Active 3 layer fabric. Optimized for durable weather protection during active endeavors.
Outdoor Research says:
Heavyweight weather is no match against this durable yet lightweight hard shell. Using the waterproof toughness and breathability of GORE-TEX Active, the Optimizer Jacket is sure to be your new favourite four-season outerwear piece.
Outdoor Research's Optimizer Gore-Tex Jacket has a similar feature set to the Axiom Jacket while also utilising Gore-Tex's waterproof and breathable Active 3 layer fabric. The main difference between them is the fact the Optimizer has a 20D ripstop face fabric compared to the 30D used in the Axiom. It may not be as durable but it does make it a lot lighter, and still a 20D face fabric is pretty tough.
The outer feel of the jacket is quite soft (for a hardshell) and it feels comfortable to wear - it also has a grid pattern to the face fabric which has a nice look to it. The fabric hasn't got as much of a stretch to it like the Axiom, but still works well in active use.
The Wire-Brimmed Halo-Hood is helmet compatible and the pockets have been placed so you can still use them while wearing a harness. Internally the pockets have a mesh lining, this enhances the jacket's breathability as its not compromised by more than a single layer of fabric.
