Our Verdict

Mountain Equipment's 2020 Switch Insulated Jacket is a very technical jacket, the fabric down the front and back of the jacket offers good wind protection but it's also there protecting the Polartec Alpha insulation. This combo gives you some warmth, but it comes into it's own when you're really active in this piece. Polartec Alpha insulates but doesn't overheat you when you start to move.

This garment will provide similar levels of warmth as a lightweight micro fleece, but when you set off on your trek, climb, ride or whatever you're doing you won't need to take it off and pack it away, you should remain comfortable in it.
