The Outdoor Research San Juan Jacket is a hooded wind-resistant soft shell that would be the perfect companion to rugged backcountry ski tours.
Outdoor Research says:
Inspired by the dry snow of the Colorado Rockies, the San Juan Jacket is the weather-shielding soft shell you've been looking to add to your alpine collection. A simple, streamlined 100% polyester 75D double weave fabric gives you the weather resistance, breathability, and movement-mirroring stretch you need to excel in extended ski tours, climbs, and alpine ascents that demand your highest level of exertion. Add to that: A fully adjustable hood that fits over your ski helmet, internal Shove-It™ pockets to stash skins and keep gear from freezing, and elastic cuffs and hem that trap in heat and keep out the cold. The San Juan Jacket is your best bet for versatile functionality in the alpine.
Outdoor Research's San Juan Jacket offers weather protection, durability and stretch, everything you need from a softshell really. And when I say stretch, I don't mean that super soft stretchy material that tends to loose it's durability through wear over time, it's more of a subtle movement-mirrowing stretch that's tougher and wont effect it's overall durability. There's also stretchy lycra cuff gussets which makes swift hand movements more comfortable and non restrictive when using ice axes or poles.
The jacket features plenty of pockets, 6 in fact, so there's plenty of storage space for keeping kit close to hand. I like the Hood Lock feature which is a small little hook on the hood which hooks onto a small loop bellow which gives you a customizable fit with or without a helmet.
