High performance warmth in a lightweight packable technical jacket.
Mammut says:
Warm insulated jacket: the Meron IN Hooded Jacket Men. Made from extremely light, polyamide ripstop material that reliably repels water. Various features such as a helmet-compatible hood as well as backpack- and climbing harness-compatible pockets make this jacket perfect for mountaineers. The 95% goose down and 5% feather filling keeps you warm in cold temperatures and has an excellent heat/weight ratio. Practical: stowable in the internal pocket.
Mammut's Meron IN Hooded Jacket is yet another iteration on their stand out technical performance down jacket.
This year Mammut have managed to shave yet more weight off the jacket and have made this year's model a more athletic fit, reducing the bulk in the body without sacrificing warmth - this means it's now easier to layer with this piece.
Exceptional warmth is provided from the 900FP down while high quality down such as this remains super packable, allowing the whole jacket to pack away into the inner chest pocket.
The one downside I've noticed in this jacket is the fill distribution in the arms, it seems to bunch up a lot causing cold spots to form near the already cold stitch-through baffles. Nothing that adjusting the down inside the baffle can't fix but on such a high performing technical piece you'd expect a better down distribution system.
