Ortlieb's Ultra Lightweight Compression Dry bag with valve is the perfect item for compressing your sleeping bag and keeping keeping it dry.

Ortlieb says:

The ultralight compression dry bag is available with valve and straps for maximum compression. It is particularly suited for compressing sleeping bags. Available in two sizes.

No air left! If you can say this about your ORTLIEB compression dry bag, you will be happy about gaining further space inside your pack. By means of the valve mechanism air is expelled from the bag, reducing the packing volume to a minimum. The ultralight nylon fabric PS10 is waterproof - an ideal supplement for non waterproof baggage. The roll closure with a fabric stiffener bar is easy for one person to handle.

These Ultra Lightweight Compression Dry bags with valves are made of super light waterproof nylon fabric, perfectly suited for compressing sleeping bags. The top end needs to be rolled at least 5-6 times after packing before closing the buckles to ensure your gear is protected from water, dust and dirt.

These Dry bags come with a valve at the bottom which can be used to remove the excess air from the bag, reducing the packing volume to a minimum. The lightweight bags roll down small when not in use so they don't take up much room or add very much weight to your bag. They are available in a 2 sizes.

Use the Compression Dry bag to compress your Sleeping bag or stow clothes to keep them dry. You could even put clothing in it at night and use it as a soft pillow!

Not the sturdy standard expected of Ortlieb

I purchased the Ortlieb dry sack partly off the back of the previous experience I'd had with their very sturdy cycle panniers. They were very solidly built and lasted me well through several years of cycle touring and commuting. When I received the dry bag, I packed a sleeping bag into it, drew down the compression straps and configured the shape into a neat cylinder. Upon doing so, one of the straps snapped where it connects onto the bag. The straps are attached to the bag using some very thin sections of material, which also include holes which further reduce the tensile strength. It seems like Ortlieb may have made a few too many compromises in the name of weight saving and resulted in a rather fragile product. Luckily Basecampgear were very helpful in helping me source an alternative.
