The Remote 2 Tent is the ultimate three-person tent for high mountaineering and winter camping. The four-season tent is warm enough for frigid winter nights, and impressively strong.
Remote™ 2 Two-Person Mountaineering Tent
A strong, four-season refuge for two mountaineers, the Remote 2 tent offers the protection you need with the livability that keeps you levelheaded for days or weeks in the harsh alpine. Built to withstand fierce winds and heavy snow loads, the double-wall tent features a sturdy central-support frame and nearly indestructible Easton® Syclone™ poles. Reinforced guy-out points provide reliable tension, and snow flaps seal out spindrift.
With its spacious interior and gear-harboring vestibule, the Remote 2 tent becomes a secure haven when you’re hunkered down on the side of a mountain.
MSR's Remote 2 All Season Tent utilises MSR's newest favourite hardware the Easton Syclone poles. These are the latest in tent pole technology and use a composite construction that makes them a lot more resilient to bending, they return to their original shape after more stress than aluminium or carbon poles and weigh the same as aluminium poles. They look and feel a lot like carbon poles but you can definitely see and feel the difference when you start bending them to pitch the tent. The only drawback of the tents design is to use pole clips instead of sleeves. Where the poles cross they will still move individually depending on which way they are being bent so the geodesic design adds little extra strength to the tent. If they were in a sleeve you would gain the support of both poles making the tent a lot more stable.
Inside the tent there is a lot of room with good head height around most of the inner tent allowing you and two others to comfortably sit upright and not be in each others laps. 4 decent sized mesh pockets on the internal walls are a bonus and are a good place for storing chunky gloves. There's plenty of loops on the ceiling of the inner to hang items for drying.
The half height vents on the doors allow for a lot of ventilation without any chance of snow or rain being blown inside. You can zip these closed on a night to create a warmer, fully fabric inner.
