Big Agnes' Copper Spur Platinum is truly freestanding, has excellent headroom, near vertical walls and two decent sized porches for this class of tent.
Big Agnes says:
Incredibly light, full featured, free-standing tents with two doors, the Copper Spur Platinum series is the gram counter’s epitome of having cake and eating it too. With features previously only found in heavier counterparts, the Copper Spur Platinum’s comforts include a nylon rip-stop fly with two vestibules, interior storage pockets, and a sleek, colored mesh body that provides privacy while allowing for night-time star gazing.
We really like Big Agnes's Copper Spur series of tents because they are not much heavier than the Fly Creek but they are truly freestanding and you get a good head height which is maintained over a wide area due to the cross pole arrangement. The Platinum version is the lightest of all and is the one to go for if you like the design but want the lightest Copper Spur out there.
The walls are nearly vertical and inside the inner tent is all mesh which keeps the lightweight theme going. This makes the tent less suitable for UK 3 season use, but does make it more breathable and cooler in hot conditions and will help keep condensation at bay.
The Copper Spur 3 Platinum has two doors and two decent sized porches for a tent in this category with internal mesh pockets for bits and bobs. External storm guying points at the business end give reassurance for windy conditions.
