The Blacktail Hotel builds on the success of Big Agnes' Copper Hotel. With a large vestibule that doubles the sheltered space this is a sociable tent. This is a bit heavier than Copper Hotel but it is much more hardwearing and offers fantastic value for money.

Big Agnes's 2020 Blacktail Hotel 2 Tent uses the same classic pole design that is strong enough to stand up to the weather while providing a good space inside. The materials used are heavier than Big Agnes normally use but this results in a stronger, more hardwearing and less expensive shelter. This Hotel gets its name thanks to the huge vestibule on one side which essentially doubles the size of the footprint. The space under this area is huge and although the inner tent does not cover it the shelter it provides is a lot better for socialising when the weather is poor.

The inner tent is a good mix of fabric and mesh so that there's protection from wind and rain, and it also has good ventilation making the tent suitable for a range of conditions. The inner is a good size for three people and there's still enough room for a few bits of kit in there too. There are some great storage pockets that help organise kit and make this tent practical and enjoyable to use. With two entrances, two porches and plenty of internal storage the Blacktail series are well thought out tents that come in at a decent price - Big Agnes has achieved this by taking one step back from the ultra-light, ultra-expensive fabrics used in other designs.
