The Helm Compact offers fantastic value and is a great tent for anyone concerned with pack size. It has a decent amount of inner space with a good sized vestibule and is ideal for backpackers, bikepackers and adventurers alike.

Our Verdict
Wild Country's Helm Compact 1 Person Tent is a great tent for solo travellers. It offers value for money in a lightweight, easy to use three season package. The tent is a freestanding dome design meaning that it stands up to the wind and rain really well. A decent amount of space and headroom in the inner tent is backed up with a good sized vestibule for storing your kit. The inner tent and flysheet are attached so it is much quicker and easier to pitch than many other tents.
This compact version has shorter pole sections which allow the tent to pack down to a smaller size, meaning it's easier to fit inside your backpack or on your bike. In practical terms, other than the generous space it has great ventilation which is a big plus in changeable UK conditions. This is a good all-round tent that is good to use in three season conditions.

- The inner has plenty of headroom and there's a good sized porch for kit storage, plus extra storage space under the rear flysheet accessed from a small door in the inner.
- Suitable for 3 season camping, the dome style provides more stability than a single hoop design such as the Zephyros 1.
- Quick and easy to erect, the flysheet and inner pitch together.
- The Helm Compact 1 has a mesh panel on the inner door plus a small mesh door with cover at the rear of the inner (which also allows access to the rear storage space) , providing several options for ventilation depending on weather conditions.
- Comes with a side opening tarp style tent back which makes it easier to pack away when it's time to move on - simply roll the tent into the bag and pull tight.
- A good choice for backpackers and campers looking for a roomy 1 person tent suitable for campsite stays and wild camping.
