One of the lightest hooded wind tops on the market Inov8 have excelled with the Windshell FZ. A very soft feel, roll back hood and chest pocket make this a great option for beating the wind.

Inov8's Windshell FZ Jacket is a great top for the mountain and fell tops. Along with the super light weight the fabric is much softer, more comfortable to wear and there is a lot less crinkling/rustling when you're running than many other wind tops. The small pack size when it's stowed into the pocket is great for throwing in a pocket as a 'just-in-case'.
The press studs to fold the hood down is a massive plus too. Like most wind tops the breathability isn't great for intense activities but there are some vents under the arms and across the back so it's not as bad as wind tops I've used in the past. Very simply put, it does keep out the wind so I pack it for every run in the mountains and most exposed routes, particularly as winter gets closer.
