The Oscar -2° is a seriously impressive fibre bag. Despite the added warmth on the original version it still feels amazingly lightweight. Using the integral compression stuff bag it has a pack size to match and is an excellent option for a synthetic bag.
Oscar -2° is a very light sleeping bag considering the level of thermal protection it provides. Built on a classic but slightly wider mummy shape it offers a snug fit – but it also features a trapezoidal foot box with extra filling for more space and warmth in the foot section keeping your feet warm. The bag has an extremely soft and comfy feel partly due to the choice of premium materials like the ultra fine 7-denier rip stop nylon and the ECO friendly 100% recycled synthetic filling made from post consumer PET bottles. Oscar has an integrated packsack, compression straps and a mesh storage bag for long time storage.
Nordisk's Oscar -2° Synthetic Sleeping Bag balances weight and warmth really well for a synthetic bag. The most impressive aspect is the pack size which, unlike traditional synthetic bags, is almost as good as a down bag at this temperature rating. The flat hood is simple, effective and more comfortable than I was expecting. As long as you are prepared with a warm hat, it's actually pretty nice.
The synthetic fill insulation lofts well as soon as the bag is unpacked from the integral compression stuff bag. Being a synthetic bag it has the added bonus of maintaining it's insulating properties even if it gets wet. If you are in the market for an extremely light sleeping bag to use in potentially damp conditions then the Oscar -2 is one of the best options available, especially at such a low weight.
