Thermarest's Basecamp mattress is basically the deluxe version of the classic Thermarest mattress, with the updated version using a new fabric and updated foam structure for an even comfier night's sleep.
The Basecamp is a comfortable mattress that has all round appeal whether you're car camping or doing shorter treks. Though it is heavier and bulkier than the mattresses in the Trek and Trail series, it is still able to be packed into a central camp where you are planning on spending a few nights and want a good level of comfort.
It is 5cm thick of expanded and die-cut foam that provides great comfort and reduces materials by 25%. It's this reduction that makes the mat compressible and light enough to trek to your basecamp. It has a high R-value suited for four season use which makes it comfortable for winter camping. It is also easy to use because the compressible foam core expands when unpacked for easy self-inflation.
