Stay warm travel light and sleep comfortably with the Big Agnes Insulated AXL Air Sleeping Pads. Constructed using PrimaLoft Silver insulation and a heat reflecting barrier to preserve body heat and keep you comfy all night long.
Big Agnes says:
The lightest, most packable, ultralight three-season pad for reliable performance. Completely redesigned from the inside out and R-Value rated by a third party, the Insulated AXL Air pad combines a high-tenacity proprietary nylon rip-stop shell with minimalist internal construction to maximize every ounce for stability and comfort. Constructed with large outer tubes to keep you cradled on top, PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation with Cross Core™ traps body heat and reflects it back, achieving previously unattainable levels of lightweight warmth. Save your breath for dawn patrol, and use the included upcycled pad inflation sack to inflate.
Big Agnes have again updated their line of inflatable sleeping pads making further improvements over the last few years, and we think that with the 2020 Insulated AXL Air mats, they have further improved on what is a super comfortable mat.
There are an impressive range of features and tech specs but the main thing this mat gives you is a depth of 9.5cm for a really comfortable sleep. As a side sleeper and someone who moves around a lot during the night the AXL offers an impressive amount of comfort and warmth for a three season mat. One of the main aspects of the insulation is that they have used top quality PrimaLoft Silver insulation and a heat reflecting barrier in these mats to preserve body heat and keep you comfy all night long. These ultralight and compact 3 season mats pack down to around the size of a drinks can (or slightly larger depending on the mat size you choose), so you'll hardly notice it in your pack.

From 2020, there is a new industry standard for measuring the R-value (level of insulation) of sleeping mats – ASTM F3340-18. This new standard is the sleeping mat equivalent to the EN rating for sleeping bags.
You can now directly compare the R-value of mats rated using the ASTM F3340-18 with confidence that is a fair and accurate comparison between mats. In simple terms, the higher the R-value, the warmer the mat.
In general terms, an R-value below 2.0 is for summer use, 2.0 to 4.0 is for cooler 3 season use and 4.0+ is for winter temperatures. This will be also be dependent on your sleeping bag, how cold you sleep etc. Please contact our customer service team if you need advice on choosing the right mat for your activity.
