The Slacker AF Hammock Sleeping Pad is a self-inflating mattress that’s tailor-made to fit inside your Thermarest Slacker Hammock.
Add some cushion to your swinging hammock with the Slacker Hammock Pad. Designed to nestle perfectly inside a Slacker hammock, this self-inflating mattress sports AirFrame™ Construction and gives your nights the added loft and warmth you want on a hammock adventure. Plus, the multi-functional stuff sack functions as a knee bolster or pillow when turned inside-out, stuffed with a jacket or blanket and connected to the mattress via its integrated strap.
Air Frame Construction
Air Frame Construction is really quite simple. It uses alternating channels of foam and air to create a skeleton of foam within an air mattress. The resulting hybrid of technologies offers the best of both - the high-loft comfort and compressibility of an air mattress, and the convenience, added stability and support of a self-inflating mattress
Thermal Foam is our proprietary, solid-core foam. While it may look like just foam, we have spent decades working closely with our supplier, evolving this most basic element of our self-inflating pads. The resulting foam is made in the USA, and optimized for the best balance of light weight, lasting durability, and uniformity of support.
Thermarest's Slacker AF Hammock Sleeping Pad is a really good idea if your wanting extra comfort from your hammock while also preventing you from losing that all-important body heat to the air around you. Although it's designed to perfectly fit the Thermarest Slacker Hammock it should fit most other branded hammocks of a similar design.
You also get a multi-functional stuff sack that works as a knee bolster or pillow when you turn it inside out and stuff it with a jacket or blanket. The sack-pillow will remain connected to the mattress via its integrated strap, so you don’t have to worry about it falling out of your hammock.

From 2020, there is a new industry standard for measuring the R-value (level of insulation) of sleeping mats – ASTM F3340-18. This new standard is the sleeping mat equivalent to the EN rating for sleeping bags.
You can now directly compare the R-value of mats rated using the ASTM F3340-18 with confidence that is a fair and accurate comparison between mats. In simple terms, the higher the R-value, the warmer the mat.
In general terms, an R-value below 2.0 is for summer use, 2.0 to 4.0 is for cooler 3 season use and 4.0+ is for winter temperatures. This will be also be dependent on your sleeping bag, how cold you sleep etc. Please contact our customer service team if you need advice on choosing the right mat for your activity.
