A durable, highly technical climbing top with the ideal balance of warmth, breathability and protection. Designed to be abrasion resistant so it won’t shred against rock, with climbing-specific features like high-stretch cuffs and a deep center-front chest zipper.
Our new R1® TechFace Pullover relies on its pared-down alpine attributes: It’s tough on the outside, soft where it counts and breathable throughout. The stretchy, lightweight double-weave fabric (partially recycled polyester, with spandex) offers significantly more wind resistance and durability than our traditional R1®, with smoother layering. A low-profile center-front zipper helps dump heat, the external zippered left-chest pocket doubles as a self-stuff sack (with carabiner clip-in loop) and sleek, low-bulk, snag-resistant stretch-knit cuffs push-up easily. With a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to shed excess moisture.
Patagonia's R1 TechFace Pullover, is a high performance fleece with a soft feel inner and harder, durable outer. The Regulator fleece is soft and comfortable to wear while doing what it should by regulating the heat. The durable face fabric does a good job of shedding light rain and providing some wind resistance. The grid effect is not to everyone's taste in terms of feel and looks but it works really well.
This is a stripped own version of the R1 Techface Hoody for those seeking to save weight. Features wise there is a single chest pocket, the hem is elasticated and the cuffs have a well thought out stretch panel. This is not the lightest piece but the performance, features and packable nature of it make the jacket a great choice for hiking, climbing and a range of other mountain activities.
