Our Verdict
At 5,257 g (excluding pegs and bags), the Big House 4 fits the bill for base camp or car camping setups where pack weight isn’t a priority. The updated dome-style architecture now features a peak height of 178 cm, allowing most people to stand upright while moving around or changing. Floor space is generous at 5.3 m², providing room for two to three adults and their gear without feeling cramped.
Pitching is quick, with three colour-coded aluminium poles, plastic clips and buckles helping align everything efficiently. Ventilation is excellent thanks to a mesh ceiling and large mesh doors, while solid fabric panels provide weather protection and privacy when needed. Dual doors and a spacious vestibule provide flexibility and ample gear storage options.
Materials feel solid throughout, with a 75D floor and flysheet offering 1500 mm HH and full seam taping. The tall profile needs to be well anchored in the wind, but the pole structure feels stable when tensioned correctly.
