Our Verdict
The Sea to Summit Detour Stainless Steel Collapsible Mug is a step up from most silicone camp mugs. The stainless steel rim gives it welcome rigidity and makes sipping hot drinks feel more stable, especially when juggling it one-handed at camp. The collapsible silicone body folds flat in seconds, making it a tidy fit in a pot set or side pocket. I also liked the ribbed sides, making it easier to grip when full, and it adds some insulation to the cup so its not too hot to pick up when full of hot liquid.
At 102g and with a 475ml capacity, it’s a bit heavier than the ultralight alternatives, but the added structure is worth it if you want a mug that doesn’t feel floppy when full.
