Our Verdict
The Jetboil Genesis Basecamp System strikes a strong balance between power and portability for group cooking. Flame control is precise, with up to four turns on each dial, allowing for easy adjustment between a rolling boil and a steady simmer. Boil times are quick, and fuel use is efficient.
The entire setup folds neatly into itself, and the carry bag fits well. Despite weighing over 4kg, it packs neatly and handles well at a car-accessible base camp.
The ceramic-coated pan and pot are practical, although the surface may scratch over time if not handled with care. The build quality is solid, and the system feels stable. The windscreen is useful in breezy conditions, but could be sturdier.
For those who want more than just boiling water and prefer cooking proper meals outdoors, this remains a reliable choice.
