Our Verdict
At 1167g, the Halny Elite 1 is on the lighter end for a robust solo tent, especially considering its 5000 mm HH groundsheet and durable feel throughout. The updated 2025 model now uses fully recycled, PFC-free fabrics across the fly, inner and floor, without compromising performance.
The tunnel design pitches quickly with a single main pole and short end struts. While setting the pole can require a firm hand, once set, the structure feels stable and secure. Headroom peaks at 96 cm, tapering sharply at the foot, which limits movement inside. Ventilation is effective with fly and inner vents at both ends, and the option to roll back the fly or prop it as an awning using a trekking pole.
The porch isn’t oversized but works well for storing a pack and boots. A chunky two-way zip on the door adds flexibility and helps regulate airflow.
This is a solid choice for solo hikers who need a shelter that prioritises weather resistance, practical weight and sustainable construction in a minimalist, UK-ready design.
