Our Verdict
The Julbo Legacy Spectron 3 sunglasses blend old-school glacier-glass looks with a polished feel that works equally well on the hill or in town. The Category 3 lenses let in just 12% of light, which I’ve found to be ideal for bright, snow-covered terrain and sunny rock routes. They’re not photochromic, so I wouldn’t pick them for mixed light or changing weather, but in stable, high-glare environments, they’ve been dependable.
At 27g, they’re well-balanced on the face, and the fit is snug without pressure thanks to the adjustable arms and grippy nose bridge. The removable leather side shields do their job in blocking glare from the sides — useful in snowfields or when the sun’s bouncing off stone. The hybrid metal-plastic frame feels durable, and there’s enough flex to work well under a helmet or hat.
