A well-balanced ultralight pole that delivers reliable support in a compact folding design.
Leki says:
Head to the high mountains with the Skytera FX Carbon SL Compact - the perfect pole for mountain hiking and for those who enjoy hiking in a lightweight style. The more compact version, with a length of 100-120 cm, is a true lightweight at only 173 g. With a shaft diameter of 14 and 12 mm, this pole strikes the right balance between lightness and stability. It is equipped with the newly designed and extremely sleek Verticon foam grip. The special feature: the form-stable, ultra-light, and fast-drying D-Loop Mesh Strap, already used in trail running. The grip, including the strap, weighs only 28 g and impresses with its perfect ergonomic shape, as well as a grip extension for additional hand positioning options.
Note on use: The product is weight-optimised and designed for experienced mountain walking. It requires particularly skilful and careful use. The product is explicitly not designed for use in skiing or ski mountaineering and is not protected against impact from the ski edge.
Do not use the pole or poles as a walking aid in accordance with DIN EN 1985. Poles intended exclusively for trekking, cross-trail, trail running and Nordic walking may not be used for skiing.
Our Verdict
The Skytera FX Carbon SL Compact poles offer a very light, tidy folding design that packs down to 39 cm, making storage straightforward when travelling to the trail, or when you don't need them on the flat. At 173 g per pole, they feel impressively light in hand, yet the carbon shafts still provide a stable and predictable feel on uneven terrain. The 100 to 120 cm range suits most shelters, but if you plan on using the poles to support your tent, it is worth checking the required height.
The Verticon grips well-shaped and comfortable to hold, with an extension that works nicely when you need to adjust hand position without changing the pole length. I like the mesh straps, which breathe well, dry quickly and give a secure fit without digging in.
Deployment is quick once the folding system becomes familiar, and the Speed Lock plus mechanism keeps the length fixed even under firm pressure. These poles suit walkers who want a compact, adjustable option that delivers good stability without carrying the mass of a heavier telescopic design.
