Our Verdict
The Approach Pants are a rare piece that doesn’t shout for attention but quietly earns their place in your kit. The Alpine fit and articulated knees give them the right shape for steep ascents without ever feeling restrictive, and the Ascender fabric dries quickly while standing up to scrapes from brush or rock. The integrated belt works well, often i want to change them out for a belt I actually like, but I have no complaints with this one. Pockets are thoughtfully placed — the zipped thigh one is especially handy for maps or snacks. At 290g for the Medium, they're well-suited for long-distance days where function and comfort are your priority.
