An incredibly lightweight soft shell jacket that offers windproof protection for fast-paced alpine activities.
Mountain Equipment says:
Making use of the lightest possible double weave softshell fabric available this windproof shell is a super breathable essential on fast moving enchainments and big mountain days. Incredibly versatile and low in weight, the Aerofoil is everything you need and nothing that you don’t
Our Verdict
The updated Aerofoil Hooded Jacket is impressively light, 114g (Medium), while still offering solid wind resistance and stretch without the bulk. The EXOLITE 45 fabric feels supple yet durable enough for scrambling or rough rock contact, and it breathes well through high-output sections. The active fit and pre-shaped sleeves move naturally without restriction, and the overall cut works well over a light base layer.
The hood is simple but effective, with a rear adjustment and the option to roll it away neatly. It packs into its chest pocket and clips easily onto a harness or pack using the twin loops. While not waterproof, it strikes a focused balance between weather protection and airflow, enabling fast alpine movement.
A sharp choice for windblown ridgelines, climbs, or long, exposed days where weight and function both matter.
