Our Verdict
Made with polar explorers and those wishing to tackle the Nepalese mountains in mind, this jacket is filled with over 400 grams of 800-fill-power goose down,
treated with Nikwax for increased moisture protection this jacket has a supreme level of warmth.
The outer shell is made of a recycled 40D Pertex Quantum, treated with a Fluorocarbon-Free Hydrophobic Finish, this gives the jacket a Hydrostatic Head of 10,000mm so it excels at repelling water, spindrift and snow.
It has a generous, fully adjustable hood, which as you would expect is helmet compatible. The hood is adjusted with mitt friendly pullers located on the inside of the jacket and a Velcro adjustment on the back of the hood, a simple but effective choice as it is assumed you will be wearing gloves whilst using this jacket. The hood also has a stiffened peak to help keep rain and snow out of your eyes.
The jacket has an impressive 6 pockets, 2 hand warming pockets, 2 Napoleon pockets , and 2 mesh pockets located on the inside of the jacket. The two internal pockets are oversized, the intention being you can keep a water bottle close to your chest to prevent it freezing, or to keep your electronics from becoming cold and suffering in performance.
The cuffs of the jacket elongate out slightly so that gloves sit snugly with in the jacket, preventing cold air entering the jacket. The cuffs can be cinched down with hook and loop adjustments.
This is an incredibly warm and cosy jacket, its over kill for most UK pursuits, unless tackling some of the more extreme Scottish mountains in the depth of winter.
