Our Verdict
Remote gas canister stoves are my preferences when I'm not just boiling water; if I'm only away for a night or two I like to cook “real “ meals; remote stoves have wider, more secure bases than screw-on stoves so I feel more confident to use larger, heavy pans. The flame regulator valve is also located away from the flame, so if your pot starts to boil over, you can turn off the stove and not have to risk getting scolded.
The Fire Beetle boils one litre of water in around four minutes, it's lightweight yet robust and packs down small.
