When the rockface is steep, exposed and difficult, you need to focus on the climb. With its lightweight design, low-bulk fit and elite-level dryness, the Muztag GTX Gaiter enables you to do exactly that.
As our most technical protective gaiter, the Muztag GTX uses lightweight 40D GORE-TEX® Pro Most Breathable - a multi-layer, air-permeable membrane, delivering premium breathability for outstanding dryness during high-output mountain activities. It also features tough 300D nylon ankle reinforcements for increased impact resistance against ice, rock and crampon spikes. To ensure a close, snag-free fit, the gaiter comes with an elasticated ankle, a zipless hook-and-loop front closure and single-handed drawcord upper hem adjustment. It also features a rubberised, abrasion-resistant underfoot strap with internal adjustment system to help tailor the fit while eradicating the prospect of buckle breakage.

Our Verdict
Rab's Muztag Gore-Tex Gaiters are a top of the range, high performance piece of kit that are designed to take on technical terrain in the harshest conditions. The use of Gore Pro is a clear indication of this with durability, high levels of waterproofing and breathability guaranteed. The 40D fabric provides an excellent balance of weight and performance while the 300D reinforcements go higher up the ankle than normal to provide extra protection from scuffs with big boots and crampons.
A full set of features including a tough Velcro closure that's made more secure with a popper at the top while an elasticated drawcord around the top with rubber grips and a durable hook for the laces ensure they stay in place once you've put them on. The thick, durable strap that runs under the boot is great quality and has certainly worn well with regular use under stiff, technical boots on varied terrain.
