The big brother of the Ultimate III Low GTX® impresses as a robust and versatile multifunctional shoe. The elasticated waterproof GORE-TEX membrane in combination with seamless Schoeller® soft shell material gives the shoe superior comfort and makes it feel very soft and supple. This also makes the Ultimate III Mid suitable for wider feet. A Michelin Compound sole made from recycled rubber with two blends of different softnesses, the patented Rolling Concept® and a highly damping cushioning foam make it a flexible all-arounder in technical terrain. In comparison to the Ultimate III Low, it offers greater stability on the ankle for precise steps on uneven terrain. A stylish, comfortable and functional shoe for every occasion.
Our Verdict
My favourite feature of these shoes is the Schoeller® soft-shell material which strikes a fantastic balance between durability and support, but also breathes incredibly well. GORE-TEX membrane in combination with this soft shell provides a light and supple boot that will keep your feet nice and dry which won’t overheat.
The sole of the boot is made from Michelin’s trail cleat, a hard-wearing sole that provides an excellent grip on variable surfaces, in either wet or dry conditions. The lugs do a good job of shedding dirt.
The midsole is well cushioned and the footbed is deep enough to incorporate an insole, something I'm always on the lookout for.
