Our Verdict
The Alti II Gore-Tex Mitts are extreme mits for extreme conditions; they are designed for the highest and coldest places on earth, though they work well for winter summiting here in the UK—essentially, two pairs of gloves in one. They offer some of the best protection for your hands.
The Alti II Gore-Tex Mitts are made up of two sets of gloves: a hardwearing, protective Gore-tex lined outer mitt and a secondary Primaloft Gold-filled insulating mitt. You can use these gloves independently or together to create an extremely warm, all-encompassing outer shell for your hands.
The weatherproof outer mitt is made of 70D polyester that protects the Gore-Tex membrane, making it both windproof and waterproof. The palm is reinforced with Pittards® Armortan leather, which is known as "the world's best leather." The leather is supple, but you can tell it's incredibly durable and of a high quality. 170g of PrimaLoft insulation is added to the outer mitt for warmth. These outer mitts can be cinched around the wrist to lock in heat.
The inner mitt is a lightweight insulating mitt lined with 340g of Primaloft® Gold. The outer mitt is constructed from ripstop nylon, so you can use them individually if you want. Both the inner and outer mitts have a fleece lining for added comfort and warmth.
