The Commuter Daypack adds a stylish, versatile look that is fully waterproof and highly practical. This pack looks great heading into coffee shops and meetings alike but comes into its own when the weather is poor.

Our Verdict
Ortlieb's Commuter Daypack Urban 21L has seen some slight tweaks in terms of the dimensions to make it a little more practical. It is still pleasingly easy to use and versatile, built with the same durable waterproof materials that have made Ortlieb packs so popular over the years. With a stylish, soft feel to the outer it looks like a regular day pack but on closer inspection the durable laminated Cordura shows the waterproof qualities most other packs lack. The solid, flat bottom is a great addition while the padded back helps improve comfort with a heavier load.
There is a large removable pocket inside which provides a padded sleeve for a laptop and a large additional zip pocket with 4 internal drop pockets too for keeping your gear safe and organised. There is an external zip pocket but this is not waterproof. It is an ideal size for a smart phone or wallet but it is not secure when it's behind you and the subtle drain holes at the bottom indicate that water will get in easily.
