Our Verdict
The Helm Elite 2 builds on the Compact 2 with lighter materials and a more compact packed size, while retaining the same freestanding structure and reliable three-season performance. The use of recycled, PFC-free fabrics across the fly, inner and groundsheet is a welcome update. The interior space is comfortable for two, and the two side doors and porches make access and storage more practical. At 1850g and 32 × 20cm packed, it remains portable enough for longer backpacking or bikepacking trips. The full fabric pole sleeves help with wind stability and tensioning, and the tent pitches quickly and easily with colour-coded poles.
Ventilation is well managed with vents at both ends and two entry points, reducing condensation build-up even in damp conditions. The mesh inner can relax slightly over time, and the zip flap could use a little more structure, but neither issue affects usability. A strong choice for solo campers seeking extra space, or for pairs looking for a low-maintenance, durable and weather-resistant tent with minimal compromise on weight or comfort.
