Patagonia combine Merino wool and a super stretchy Polyester in order to create a high wicking but also warm base-layer to keep you warm and dry whether on the move or through the night.

Our Verdict
The Capilene Air is a highly breathable and wicking base-layer that is very comfortable due to the seamless construction preventing any pressure points which make it great as a sleeping layer or just as a general warm base.
The combination of the Polyester and the Merino make it both warm and also allow for a good amount of air flow which helps with the wicking away of moisture.
Due to how stretchy the material is this with fit most shapes and sizes so if you size true to your normal size, then it fits close but without any restriction as it stretches easily. It has quite a long fir as well so covers over the top of leggings well to prevent riding up and any cold air getting in if you are in a sleeping bag.
