Our Verdict
Fjällräven's Ruaha Shorts are lightweight, sturdy travel shorts made from G-1000 Lite fabric. This is Fjällräven's own hardwearing and versatile fabric, a well proven outdoor classic that will prepare you for all types of adventures, all year round.
The G-1000 Lite is classed as the lightweight, cool version of the Original G-1000 making it an excellent choice for both travelling and general outdoor use. The dense weave is made from polyester, cotton and is impregnated with Greenland Wax. This combination makes G-1000 Lite extremely durable, very well ventilated and also wind and water resistant. It also provides almost 100% protection against the sun's ultraviolet rays, helping to greatly reduce the risk of sunburn so you can discover the great outdoors without limitations.
Feature-wise the shorts are pretty much covered in pockets. Not only do you get two open front pockets and two rear zippered pockets, but you also get two leg pockets and one internal security pocket for hiding emergency cash, cards etc. All of the pockets are on the large side so there's plenty of space for carrying everything you need. As with all Fjällräven products, attention to detail has been given to every aspect of the garment, even the buttons which are nicely engraved with the Fjällräven Arctic Fox logo.
