Our Verdict
Marmot's Aenergy Light SO Shorts are designed with the stretch, comfort, and durability needed for climbing pants to succeed. They are much more versatile and are just as good for hiking and general outdoor wear.
The softshell material provides enough stretch but it is also breathable for when things heat up. There is a good amount of water repellency in the fabric. All the pockets are secure enough for important bits with zip closures which, again is a nice touch for practical outdoor pants.
