Our Verdict
The Seeker Synthetic Jacket is Berghaus' new Synthetic jacket in their re-introduced Extrem range, that like the other members of the Extrem family focuses on offering a high level of performance and durability while not having unnecessary features that detract from this. While basic in appearance it will be a very useful and long-lasting jacket for most outdoor activities that you can think of.
The Seeker is designed to be a warm mid layer in combination with a shell as while it is DWR treated it isn't going to keep heavy rain out, but it can also be used as an outer layer in dryer conditions. The insulation is Primaloft Gold active+ which is perfect for keeping you warm while not moving on a belay ledge even if it is a bit damp, but then is very breathable for when it's your turn to move so you are not going to get overheated.
The outer material is light but surprisingly durable and the ripstop gives you confidence on steeper terrain. The hood is fairly adjustable via a draw cord on the back but did feel a little uncomfortable without a hat or helmet on. Two good sized outer pockets and a internal pocket also allow for the storage of any of the esstentials that you might need close to hand.
The fit of the Seeker is slightly larger, but this allows for putting a fleece underneath, and it allows for a good range of movement without restriction making it a good choice from everything from a gentle walk to winter climbing.
