The Panacea 2 offers an external all-in-one hub pole system to provide excellent space for two people. With two doors and porches, and the option to add extra stability with your trekking poles, the Panacea 2 is an ideal backpacking tent.
Our Verdict
I'm impressed with this rugged two-person tent. It’s a simple, outer-pitch first tent that can shrug off seriously bad weather. The tent’s unique feature is that you can add support with trekking poles, which adds a lot of strength to the structure and vastly improves its performance in the wind.
The high wishbone-style structure and volumizing cross pole create a surprising amount of headroom and internal, liveable space. However, though this is a two-person tent, it is a little snug for two and their gear, especially If you and your tent buddy use wide sleeping mats; you may need to reconsider your choice of tent. Thankfully each vestibule is large, so you have a lot of room to store gear and somewhere to cook in bad weather.
This is a three-season tent, but its ability to cope with high winds means that if you are someone who enjoys summit camps, this is an excellent tent, especially if you also use the trekking poles.
