Steeped in pure Patagonia DNA, this warm, timeless and versatile hooded parka was inspired by a piece we made in the early 80s. Today's wind- and weather-resistant version is built using NetPlus® 100% postconsumer recycled nylon faille made from recycled fishing nets to help reduce ocean plastic pollution; with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish made without intentionally added PFAS. For warmth, the hood and torso are lined with 100% recycled polyester fleece, and the sleeves are insulated with 60-g Thermogreen® 100% recycled polyester. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.
Our Verdict
The Patagonia Isthmus Parka offers steady warmth and protection for cold, damp days. At 1096g (Medium), the weight reflects its focus on warmth and protection, and the combination of a fleece-lined torso and hood with synthetic insulation in the sleeves creates a balanced level of insulation for everyday winter walking. The regular fit leaves room for layers without feeling oversized, and the two-way zip helps fine-tune comfort during movement or when sitting.
The recycled nylon shell has a robust texture and sheds light rain well, while the adjustable hood provides good wind coverage. The pocket layout is practical, with easy-to-access hand pockets and a secure internal pocket for small valuables.
Build quality is consistently strong, and the mix of materials feels durable. It is not intended for high-intensity activity, but for general winter use; it performs reliably and offers reassuring protection.
