These gloves are made with a tough, recycled polyamide exterior that protects the Gore-Tex membrane. They are oversized to accommodate bulkier insulating gloves underneath and can be cinched around the wrist with a sturdy drawcord.
Trekmates says:
Packable GORE-TEX overmitten with + Gore active technology for increased breathability and performance. Ideal for use over thermal gloves as a waterproof layer or worn on it’s own for wet days.
Our Verdict
While these gloves can be worn alone on rainy days, they are more efficient when used as part of a layering system. They are constructed of a durable recycled polyamide exterior that safeguards the Gore-Tex membrane. While the recycled polyamide is quite tough, Trekmates did not use a protective layer on the palms of the glove, which I would have liked to see, but this omission does reduce the overall weight and cost. The gloves are oversized to accommodate bulkier insulating gloves underneath. They can be secured around the wrist with a sturdy drawstring. They are lined with a smooth polyester that makes layering simple and feels nice against the skin.
