When comfort is your priority the Deepsleep is an amazing sleeping mat. The hard wearing fabrics and 3D foam inner provide an awesome mat for car camping, van life and camp site camping.

Our Verdict
Exped's DeepSleep Mat 7.5 MW is definitely not a backpacking mat but is certainly a luxurious mat for many other occasions. With amazing levels of warmth and comfort the Deepsleep is ideal for car camping trips, van life and basecamps alike. The durable 75D fabrics and 3D foam mean that it gives an amazing nights sleep on any surface.
The mat has a brushed fabric top that makes it much more comfortable then more other mats and is certainly warm enough for year-round use. Exped rate this mat down to a crazy -43°C so you never need to worry about the cold getting through this mat! The 3D foam design means that comfort is uniform and there are no uncomfortable spot around the edges or in the middle. The generous dimensions with 65cm in width is much more then you'd normally get from a single mat too.

From 2020, there is a new industry standard for measuring the R-value (level of insulation) of sleeping mats – ASTM F3340-18. This new standard is the sleeping mat equivalent to the EN rating for sleeping bags.
You can now directly compare the R-value of mats rated using the ASTM F3340-18 with confidence that is a fair and accurate comparison between mats. In simple terms, the higher the R-value, the warmer the mat.
In general terms, an R-value below 2.0 is for summer use, 2.0 to 4.0 is for cooler 3 season use and 4.0+ is for winter temperatures. This will be also be dependent on your sleeping bag, how cold you sleep etc. Please contact our customer service team if you need advice on choosing the right mat for your activity.
