Breathable and built for movement—these twin-layer shorts handle long, sweaty days without fuss or friction.
Montane says:
A lightweight pair of twin skin trail running shorts.
The Slipstream Twin Skin Shorts are a warm-weather training and racing staple. Made using a super lightweight Aeroflyte QD fabric for the outer short, and a CARVICO with ECONYL® regenerated nylon inner short, breathability and comfort on your biggest days on the trails are guaranteed. A tailored run-specific fit ensures the shorts move with you, while multiple pocket options provide ample storage for gels and essentials. A stretch waistband with internal drawcord keeps everything secure when you're working hard.
Our Verdict
The Slipstream Twin Skin Shorts from Montane combine a supportive inner liner with a lightweight, fast-drying outer. At 166g (medium), they’re light enough for hot conditions but don’t sacrifice comfort. The inner short fits snugly and stays put, and the outer fabric moves freely without catching or clinging. I found the waistband particularly well thought out—it sits flat, doesn't shift, and the drawcord helps fine-tune the fit mid-run.
Storage is minimal but efficient. There’s a rear pocket that fits keys or a few gels, plus two small hip pouches for snacks or a buff. Anything bulkier, like a phone, is a tight squeeze, so these are best for short to mid-distance efforts or when using a vest for bigger loads.
