Our Verdict
The Patagonia Windshadow Jacket provides confident protection in cold, wet weather. At 771g (Medium), the weight suits its role as a fully waterproof insulated layer, and the fit allows comfortable layering without feeling awkward or tight. The length is slightly shorter than the parka version but still gives good coverage, and the hood adjusts cleanly for use in wind and rain.
The synthetic insulation provides steady warmth in typical winter conditions, and the breathability is reasonable for a jacket of this type. The pocket layout is practical, with easy-to-access hand pockets and secure internal storage for valuables. The cuffs and hem adjust effectively to reduce draughts.
The recycled polyester ripstop shell feels durable, and the water repellent finish maintains reliable performance through regular wear. It is not designed for high-output activity, but for day-to-day winter use; it delivers dependable weather protection in a simple, functional package.
