The Anacapa offers excellent levels of cushioning and comfort for hikers. The natural leather outer and combination of recycled materials is a great example of environmentally conscious kit that still performs exceptionally well.

Our Verdict
Hoka One One's Anacapa Low GTX is designed with an environmental focus by using recycled materials and natural leather. It will still provide a serious amount of cushioning, support and comfort. With a plush 24mm stack in the forefoot and 30mm heel this boot is ideal for long distance walking in wet and mixed conditions. There is an amazing amount of cushioning and levels of comfort with the additional freedom of movement from this low cut design. As with much of the Hoka range, the style and in particular the look of the sole is not going to be to everyone's taste but the support you get from them, especially on long days is certainly worthwhile in our experience.
In this shoe there is a Gore-Tex waterproof lining with recycled textile that will keep your feet dry when combined with the waterproof nubuck leather outer. This is a highly weatherproof boot in a uniquely environmental design from Hoka. They also use the Virbam Megagrip which provides a really good amount of grip on varied terrain in the wet and dry. The sole has multidirectional lugs for gaining traction when you need it most and it gives a bit of extra stability. There is variation in the foam used in the sole to provide a balance of cushioning and responsiveness.
In terms of fit, we noticed that the Anacapa Low GTX is on the smaller side. So we recommend going up a size.
