Our Verdict
I like this jacket; it feels fantastic to have on, is very unrestrictive, and is soft to the touch; the 20d fabric has a brushed back, which feels lovely next to bare skin. The amount of movement the jacket facilitates is truly impressive; a fantastic jacket for climbing and scrambling.
Drilite Stretch fabric to blur the lines between hardshell and softshell with this stretchy and comfortable waterproof jacket. The Drilite fabric provides some impressive stats with 20,000 HH and 35,000 MVTR, which would be great on a more traditional hard shell, let alone on something like this. Pit zips aid the jacket's ability to ventilate heat quickly, so if you're exerting yourself, you can quickly regulate your heat.
Mountain Equipment's hoods are always good; this is no exception; the hood isn't helmet compatible, so not needlessly oversized. It has three points of adjustment, two around the face and one around the crown; you get an excellent secure fit that doesn't impede your vision.
The jacket is an alpine fit, which cuts off at the belt line; I'd like to see the coat extend a few extra inches to add a bit of protection, but overall, I'm a big fan.
