A brilliant basecamp chair that sits higher off the ground than most other camping chairs. It's a much nicer experience for people with bad backs or stiff knees.

The Helinox Sunset Camping Chair packs down to a portable 47 x 12 x 14 cm in its included bag and weighs just 1.6 kg. Strong and light, the heart of its innovative design is a frame made from a proprietary DAC aluminium alloy delivering a maximum strength-to-weight ratio that comfortably holds up to 145 kg. Built for the sun, the removable chair seat and zippered carrying case are made from ultra-durable, UV-resistant, 600-weave, ripstop polyester and are machine washable (line dry) for easy care. Setup is easy. An internal bungee cord snaps the frame into place, and reinforced sleeves make attaching the seat simple. The breathable seat stays cool on hot days, the tall back adds support, an adjustable headrest design ups the comfort and side pockets are handy for smartphones, snacks, and sunblock.
Our Verdict
The Helinox sunset chair uses ultra-light collapsible tent pole technology to create a compact and comfortable camping chair you can lean back in, which also sits much higher (35cm)off the ground than most other camping chairs. This is a big plus; it makes it a much more enjoyable and relaxing experience.
The chair poles are made from DAC aluminium, best known for their use in some of the strongest tents in the world, including Hilleberg, and the chair material is made from very breathable, durable polyester.
The chair's stuff sack doubles as a pillow pocket, and a beach town or down jacket can be inserted to support your head as you relax.
