Our Verdict
Montane’s Cetus Petrichor Pants use a highly breathable waterproof fabric and a minimal seam layout to keep moisture management efficient during sustained effort. At 314g (Medium), they feel light yet durable, with a regular cut that moves well without excess fabric. The ¾-length side zips are a key feature, making it easy to pull the trousers on over footwear. Thanks to the top zip, you can open it to help vent heat when pushing yourself.
The elasticated waist and adjustable hems refine the fit, while the smooth interior fabric stays comfortable over baselayers. Durability is suitable for mountain use, provided you are mindful of very abrasive terrain.
For hillwalkers and fast movers wanting protective trousers that balance breathability, packability and function, the Cetus Petrichor Pants are a strong option.
