Our Verdict
The Flex hike is the little brother of the incredibly popular Flex capacitor; its main feature is its ability to contract or expand depending on how much gear you take or how many provisions you eat your way through, being able to cinch the pack down as you eat your food or put on your additional layers, streamlines the packs and makes for a more comfortable carrying experience.
The pack has large padded shoulder and hip belt straps that do a good job of spreading the weight of your pack across the upper body and onto the hips, making this a really nice pack to carry.
The two stretchy mesh pockets are accommodating and easily fit most water bottles and some gear. You get a small stack pocket in the lid and a hidden zippered pocket on the front of the pack. Internally there is room for a water bladder. The internal bag is accessed by a large U-shaped opening, which opens very wide and lets you route around to access your gear without having to pull everything out of your pack.
